Aww~ Salem was almost adorable as he questioned her calm demeanor after her hype speech, but she only smiled brightly at her often broody looking friend, but she didn’t respond. Instead, she just rubbed his shoulder with her own, a sort of gesture that was meant to comfort in a way that likely only made sense to her. But as they began to track down their monsters, Salem presented another question to her, one that she was almost surprised to hear. Then again, she remembered one of their conversations about powers and he had seemed confused, so maybe he hadn’t gotten the picture just yet? Who knew for sure. Instead, she flashed Salem a toothy grin. ”I’m never without a weapon, Salem. Empty hands mean nothing when one has magic.” A flirty wink was given to him before she turned her eyes toward the city streets.

Her eyes first focused on Biran, who seemed to be looking off at something in the distance. What did he see, she wondered briefly before turning her eyes down the street to see a shambling… something or another. She was almost stunned when Biran started shooting before even knowing if it was a survivor or if it was one of the undead, but then again, maybe with his own senses, maybe he somehow didn’t hear a heartbeat or smelt the rotting of flesh coming from it. Choosing to side with him, the dog grabbed hold of Salem’s hand as he seemed to panic before pulling him behind some boxes or a car or just a random object in the street. ”Calm down, Salem. I won’t let anything happen to you, okay?” She said in a strangely serious tone, though her gaze still held a strange form of excitement as she patted him on the head. As she pulled away from him, she smiled and moved on top of the object they were hiding behind, flicking her hands off to the side of herself. In an instant, a blue fire engulfed her hands.

”See~? I told you I’d show you my magic some other time~” She purred excitedly over her shoulder at Salem before forming a large ball of Fire between her hands and launching it at the target that Biran was shooting for.

With an inward sigh of relief, Jasmine focused at the task at hand. This growing that was coming from the forward direction seemed to be coming towards them. She wasn't an expert on undead. Hell, she wouldn't even know what to do if she found on any other time. Shoot them? Well that honestly didn't really matter now did it? This situation called for them to shoot first ask questions later. If this was some kind of survivor, it wasn't going to last very long. Not with old Ironside doing the shoot now ask later deal.

No big deal form Jasmine on that front. She would have done the exact same thing. Though, on another note, it was cute that Rune was trying to keep this guy Salem safe. Well, if that's what Rune was going to do then Rune could do that. Jasmine had enough of trying to keep idiots out of things that they shouldn't be in. Like Juliana. Oh man...if Juliana was here the likelihood of Jasmine just accidentally shoving her into the way of a Zombie was too large. Yeah. It would be close to a 95% chance of the other female getting eaten by a zombie. At least her brains would be useful for something.

But that wasn't important right now. This...whatever it was, was still a threat. Pulling out her twin guns, Jasmine aimed her handguns towards the noise and let loose. Hopefully something would hit.

He could feel it in his gut. There were horrors everywhere. In every corner, behind every wall, in every shadow. Beads of cold sweat ran down the author's forehead as his eyes darted back and darted back and forth at every inch of the room. They could even be standing behind him right now. Reaching out and putting a hand on his shoulder this very instant. Much like the hand that was on his shoulder right at the moment.

Salem jolted, the realization hitting him that someone was holding onto his shoulder. In his state of panic he had forgotten that he was in the center of the group and that there was no chance a zombie would have snuck up on him, so he was surprised to see the tall individual apparently attempting to put him at ease. At least, he assumed so. His tone was very cold and dismissive. Rune had backed up the statement, saying no one was ever unarmed if they had magic.

“Right… I forgot.” Salem admitted, his panic-addled brain making him forget that in a world of monsters and zombies magic was also a thing that existed. Especially when Rune previously told him as much, and even earlier told him she knew how to wield it at Gorgon Ramsay's kitchen. “I didn't imagine magic would be so practical and… Battle-ready.” Honestly, he had imagined that magic was more along the lines of rituals and extended casting to subtly influence the world, more druidic and less Harry Potter. Not something one could pull out of the air at will.

In any case, the tall man had revealed a suspicion Salem had to begin with, regarding that Rune had not in fact been a human being. Great, just when he thought he was befriending other humans who could ween him into the world of monsters a little easier they had been a monster themselves. That put a fresh perspective on things… at least they seemed to get along well. But now Salem was especially worried that was a ruse. Could he even actually trust monsters? They did have a common enemy at the moment, so that was something. Unless they were only bringing him along as food. Fuck, why did he sign up for this job again?!

Without being able to think or respond, Rune quickly pulled him behind cover as she heard growing noises coming from a location nearby. Salem heard them too, but unlike time he heard them literally everywhere, which was likely a result of his panic overwhelming his sense. Rune had mentioned something about being there to protect him, but while he appreciated the gesture, he couldn't help but feel like shit. He did sign up for this, after all. He should be pulling his weight.

Biran and Jasmine had already opened fire, with Rune demonstrating her magical capabilities by igniting her hand with blue flame, spontaneously combusting at her own whim, before she flung it I to the creature making their way towards them, exploding. Salem couldn't help but marvel at the sight. Of course he knew magic was real by this point; he'd have to be stupid not to. But seeing it actually unfold on front of his eyes was a surreal image. Rune turned back to Salem, reassuring him again with some light bragging about her promise to show him magic sometime. “... That's incredible.” Salem admitted, not really saying it so much as letting it slip out of his thought bubble audibly.

As the shadowy creature began to approach closer and closer to them, Salem raised his gun and held it over his cover. At least these things were supposed to be slow. That gave him the opportunity to practice aiming with a real target. Not like him participating would suddenly attract more zombies, as the group already made their positions known to begin with and have probably done so right off the bat. He tried to aim for the head area. Zombies were weak in the head, right? That's where they always were in the movies. Besides, who wouldn't be vulnerable to a shot there? Probably vampires, but that's another story.

Arden: Arden would take a few steps away from the group to not get hit with friendly fire. Pulling his favorite gun from the holster he would also start helping open fire on whatever it was they were shooting at. By now the figure was shambling from the mist, he could see it's outline. Obviously it was an enery since everyone else was trying to kill it.
