It's the middle of February. I know, late to update. But if you couldn't tell, there is no major event running along the Grand Ball. As well, we are going to start pushing more with the grand event. We don't want to exactly hurry everything along, but we do want action to start happening! Feel free to continue to post and enjoy it. Watch out for the drama that is about to go down~

CHARACTER BASICS

Character Name: Ezekiel Abel Malach
Alias/Nickname: Abel
Gender: Male
Race: Half Demon, Half Angel
Age: 38
Faction: TCPD
Level: 1

Eye color: Green
Hair color: Black
Appearance: Abel stands at exactly 6 feet tall with a solid muscular build that weighs in at a total of 197lbs. His hair is kept short and spikey with facial hair that comes down in a chinstrap and is groomed and trimmed to detailed specifications for however he feels that week while still remaining in standards for his occupation. Occasionally tattoo like markings appear above his eyebrow and on his body, typically when utilizing the talents of his race.

Racial Detail: Though Abel only knows about his demon side, he possesses a form that is primarily demonic in nature but shares some features that nod to another side. Being both demonic and angelic gives him powers and ability traits from those races but typically cuts effectiveness in half due to his state of being cut down the middle himself so to speak.

Personality: Abel is a nice guy at first glance, the sort of guy everyone aspires to be. He’s charming, attractive, well spoken. What’s not to like? A few dark secrets keep him from getting close to people and he likes to keep people at arm’s length due to them. In other words, he’s a good guy but probably not a good friend. Abel is horrible at making friends and also is horrifically bad at maintaining any sort of relationship beyond that, if he does even manage to get the friend thing down. Despite his outspoken and charismatic personality, Abel is more likely to spend his free time to himself.

History: Though in truth born to a demon father and an angel mother, Ezekiel only saw a life with his perfectly normal human mother. It was him that was the abomination, though his mother never lead him to think that. She was forgiving, kind, spirited, gentle. About everything a perfect mother could be to her son who grew up thinking himself less than perfect. His mother never talked about dear old dad and he never asked. With every horrific talent he was bestowed with at birth, Ezekiel thought himself to be born from a man who had forced himself onto his beautiful and frail mother. Of course, he could never have been more wrong but his mother never enlightened him. She had her own demons she lived with and though it hurt her son, she dared not share them with him in fear it would only put him in further shame or even in harms way. His self-destructive behavior in his youth was somehow less troublesome than ever dealing with the truth.

The way he saw it, was born an unworthy son of the devil and was an undeserved curse to his mother, who was a mortal woman of faith in his eyes. Though he was ill born to do so, Ezekiel still attended church and prayed alongside the people in town and his mother. As if he was a normal young man. He knew he was not, and though not particularly evil or malicious, he found himself constantly basking in temptation and sin. About the same kind that would be expected of any young person that was growing into an adult. Ezekiel didn’t think it was normal, how easily his willpower collapsed. Normal people of faith didn’t feel jealousy, self-loathing, lust, or feel tempted to self-pleasure themselves. He was taught these feelings could be prayed and taken away by their god but for some reason, he never felt his prayers were answered. Instead of talking about these issues and learning the rational thoughts of normal people, he bottled it inside and never spoke of his demons. He felt himself undeserving of god, of his church, and of his mother.

Ezekiel started leaning to a darker path, where he no longer attempted to pray for strength or even forgiveness. He resented and coveted and continued to feel strongly in ways that were taught to him to be of sin. He acted rudely to many and started to care little for the feelings of others. His power and handsomeness was used to lay with young women who would be tossed aside by him. His new ability to lack compassion healed greater than his prayers ever did and he was living a life without guilt or confessions. It was a life he finally could live to appreciate. Though even without favor of god or the favor of his peers, there was one person who caught wind who sealed his fate. His mother confronted him in regards to one of his recent sexual partners, to which he was always careful to never have her find out about. Even if he didn’t care for faith any longer, he was still very aware of hers and wished to remain pure and of good faith in her eyes. For the first time in a good while he felt shame. He apologized that he could not be strong, could not shine through dark times, and finally told her how much he struggled for years and was sick of praying to a deity that never answered.

His mother seemed to have sympathy. She had to apologize as well because she did not see her son’s suffering. She assured him all his urges, all his feelings, strong emotions, temptations. They were all normal things. If normal people didn’t struggle with them, they wouldn’t be preaching advocacy or praying for these things to be mended or forgiven. “God Strengthens,” was something she said often and now was no different. That was what her son’s name meant, after all. She explained that he was already born with the strength to resist temptation and be a good person if he chose it for himself, and god has little to do with his choices once it is set in stone. God can only forgive and he will. Being jealous, or callous, or sexually active is a part of life and has less to do with faith than some may tell. But it is important to indulge in all of those things only when necessary, selectively. Otherwise it could consume and takeover a life that could otherwise be led fully with good intent. It was that which she feared most of all, that her son had been in pain and lead astray. She promised him he could still be forgiven and that it was never too late to let god back into his heart after a small misunderstanding. Ezekiel accepted this.

Learning the power to control himself came less from god given blessings and more so from his own power of will, it led to a steady rehabilitation. He came back to church, confessed all his sins, made up for them all in ways deemed necessary for the situation. He started dating rather than just screwing around and being constructive toward peers he once bullied. The change was dramatic and all was well and good again with his outlook on life being restored. One day there was a change in the atmosphere though, a man began inserting himself into his mother’s life, a relative to the preacher. It wasn’t completely odd; his mother had dated before and things ended amicably if they had to. But this stranger was off in the way he interacted with him vs his mother. He was sweet as pie around her but the second she left the room he looked nervous and on edge. An adult himself by now, Ezekiel confronted the man about it. He told him that his mother was a demon. What? No. Never. He would have protested louder but the man offered proof if he’d accept. To accept meant to learn a thing or two about monsters in general. Monsters? Like beyond just demons? The world the man showed him was unlike anything he had seen before. The man himself was a hunter of sorts for all beasts known and unknown to mankind.

He gave all these lessons to distract him. His mother hardly suspected a thing either and in this time with their guard down, the man had whispered enough rumors around to finally provoke a witch hunt of sorts through the people in town. Ezekiel awoke to his house burning down, his mother could not be gotten to and he had to make his escape alone. Upon leaving the house he was arrested and watched as his mother was taken into custody to be brought to a cross and burned there. He was about to be next until the man put an end to it, saying to release the young man. They took his word for it and released him as every townsperson went on with their night. Ezekiel was enraged. The man egged him on, to murder them all for what they did to his mother. He claimed he tried to stop them but they were set on what they wanted to do. He felt responsible too, as he was hired to investigate their household. His love for her was fake, in other words. Staged in order to lead to her demise. But he knew the truth no one was willing to see, that his mother was innocent and that it was him that was really the dark entity in the home. All the knick knacks he thought belonged to her, all the proof he collected was all just what remained of his father. Things that she wanted her son to have if he ever willed it.

Ezekiel was given a strange trinket by the man, a coin of sorts that made him feel calm and in control, but when flipped to the other side he felt enraged once more. It was an evidently an otherworldly device made for him to have. He was encouraged to use it, one way or another, to give him the power to exact his revenge or forgive those that didn’t deserve it. Ezekiel made a choice and slew every last individual in town with the exception of the investigator. He was surprised as he expected no mercy from the boy due to the part he played. Ezekiel turned over the coin in his hand and let the calming energy wash over him, a feeling that reminded him of the gentle and forgiving heart of his mother. He was alone, just old enough to be on his own but too young still to stand on his own feet. He had no choice but to beg the man to take him in and let him work for him now, if he would have him. If not, his life would be forfeit now before it even began. A sad thought to waste such potential. So the man agreed to take him in and train him into his line of work. Anton was his real name. Though he wasn’t a perfect man himself, he promised to do what he could for Ezekiel.

It was true. Anton was not a perfect being. As they worked more closely and their bond grew stronger, he had to admit that he purposely led to the demise of his mother and coaxed him to destroying the town. It was the only way to get someone off his back, the last favor he needed to pull for someone very powerful. Though betrayed, Ezekiel forgave him. They had been through a lot and he had been trained by this man to essentially destroy him or anything else in this world. It was forgiveness Anton didn’t feel he deserved, but the two carried on. Ezekiel asked who this person was that held Anton in such a bind, that whoever he was it was him that deserved his wrath because he wished his mother dead. Anton corrected that he wanted boy dead as well, and that facing him would mean the death of them both as he betrayed that last request. Ezekiel let it go, as he felt it meant Anton would be protected from that evil man if he no longer pursued that information. But he would be wrong yet again. That horrid man would find them. And he would not be happy with either of them. In just short years after, a man named Dimitri would come with a slew of his supernatural goons and capture them both.

Upon dragging them to what seemed to be hell on earth, Dimitri killed Anton and left the young man alive to suffer until he submitted to him. Ezekiel was living on borrowed time as it was and was lucky to make it this long. Dimitri was going to use him from here on out and pick up where Anton left off. He would bag all sorts of nasty creatures for his personal use and if he dared to disobey orders like Anton did, he would meet the same fate. It was an offer Ezekiel could not refuse, quite literally. It meant he wouldn’t rot in a cage for eternity, a fate possibly worse than slavery. At least he could live doing what he did, even if it was barely a free life for him anymore. Ezekiel refused his old name and renounced it, from that point onward requesting to be named Abel so that he would no longer sully the name his mother had given him with unjust blood. He gave it all up so he had no choice to forget about who he was. After doing quite a bit of Dimitri’s dirty work, he gave him a spot within his ranks of supernatural beings that followed and worked for him. Abel’s job was simple. He tracked down any beasts that were valuable and went bump in the night, or very pretty and pure. Whatever could turn a good profit alive. After seeing what Dimitri could do, he was just thankful he didn’t end up like that.

Abel ran a request for Dimitri. He needed pretty angelic sorts for his trafficking business. Those were sort of rare to come by, but he was able to do the footwork in tracking down a pair of angels. They were a couple rat bastards actually, stealing and being a ruckus. They wouldn’t be missed in this small town. Being a member of Dimitri’s elite meant a lot of folk and authorities on any end of Europe he didn’t tend to get questioned, even when he took the law into his own hands and carted the two young thieves off to Russia, the base of Dmitri’s operations. Abel had them locked down together and presented them to Dimitri. It was about what the man had ordered, but Abel had failed him. They were only half angel. Abel was distraught over it and apologized for the error profusely. Dimitri did not admonish Abel in the eyeshot of anyone else, but he was indeed punished. Though he was such a failure, Dimitri did make use of Abel’s findings. He took the male of the two twins for himself and whatever he had planned to do with him. The female was left in Abel’s care for now, to do with as he pleased. Even Abel himself had no use for a living half breed mongrel bitch guised as an angel. But if she was left in his care for any amount of time, he was going to be sure to make her suffer for the grief it caused him. He whored her out to many of Dimitri’s clients, but that was not before breaking in the goods himself and alongside those he worked with. She was paraded around and caged like a bird, and he made sure to clip her wings so she couldn’t just fly away. He was cruel. Likely as cruel as anyone else was or could have been to her. Maybe it was justice when she had enough and shanked him in the side so that she could make a hasty escape. Abel was fucked for that too, and would catch another gruesome punishment from Dimitri when he caught word.

Still, Abel was whipped and loyal to this horrid being of power. Dimitri knew this. He gave Abel an opportunity. Find the half angel Jasmine, and bring her back to him. She was in Twin City, a land filled to the brim with monsters. It was a playground, a heavenly hell on earth for a hunter like Abel. He accepted. He would not fail Dimitri again. Not ever again. Even if that meant his own end. Because any demise was likely better than the next consequence for failure. On Dimitri's dime he went to Twin City and set himself up there with a new life. He was informed that getting a job with the police department would be the best way to find out the ins and outs of the city, and to even have access to files on the people who come in and live there. It was the perfect set up. Even with his occupation on the side, he was going to be a cop. He was charming and just, and about all the things the TCPD needed. Yeah. Perfect fit.
